PORTWELL RELEASES A PALM-SIZED FAN-LESS EMBEDDED SYSTEM UTILIZING THE LATEST GENERATION INTEL® LOW POWER APOLLO LAKE SOC PROCESSOR

WEBS-7000 Is Compact, Fan-less and Ideal for Kiosk, Digital Signage, Factory Automation and IoT Applications

DREIEICH GERMANY – November 28, 2017 -- Portwell, Inc., (www.portwell.com.tw) a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and an Associate member of the Intel® Internet of Things Solutions Alliance, today announces the release of the WEBS-7000, a palm-sized fan-less embedded system featuring the latest 14nm Intel® Pentium® and Intel® Celeron® processors (formerly codenamed Apollo Lake). Its compact design (150(W) x 120 (W) x 30(H) mm; 5.9”(W) x 4.7”(D) x 1.2”(H)), plus low power consumption with high performance and powerful graphics engine make WEBS-7000 a perfect solution for applications in kiosk, digital signage, in-vehicle mobile video surveillance, IoT gateway, and factory automation.

According to Yaling Sun, Portwell’s product manager, the new rugged WEBS-7000 is equipped with the Portwell PICO-6260, a PICO-ITX form factor (100mm x 72 mm; 3.9" x 2.8") embedded board based on the Intel® Celeron® processor N3350, which integrates the Intel® Gen9 3D graphics engine with up to 12 execution units that improves performance and supports faster 4K encode and decode operations. The compact WEBS-7000 embedded system also features DDR3L SO-DIMM up to 8GB supporting 1866/1600 MT/s; single Gigabit LAN via Intel® Ethernet Controller I210IT; one USB 3.0 port; one HDMI on rear I/O with resolution up to 4096 x 2160; and multiple storages with mSATA or SATA DOM by project. “In addition to one Mini PCIe expansion socket (co-lay with mSATA),” says Sun. “the compact WEBS-7000 embedded system integrates the latest M.2 type E interface, which provides wireless connectivity such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC (near-field communication) functionalities. It can serve as an ideal IoT gateway solution,” Sun explains.

The simple and exquisite design of WEBS-7000 embedded system with wall mounting as well as panel/ VESA® mounting enables flexible installation and easy system maintenance. By taking advantage of the low 6W thermal design power (TDP) of the Intel® Celeron® processor N3350, the fan-less WEBS-7000 can support operating temperatures from 0°C to 45°C while ensuring silent operation, reliability and low maintenance rate and costs at the same time. Moreover, the enhancement in flash playback, rich 2D/3D graphics quality, security and power efficiency enables a fascinating visual experience for a variety of applications in retail, networking, digital signage, and kiosk, just to name a few.
